What drives the cost
Two installs of the same charger can differ by thousands of dollars. The biggest levers
are the routing distance from your panel to the charger (more wire and
conduit), whether your panel has spare capacity for a 40–60A circuit, and
local labor and permit rates. Hardwired vs plug-in and indoor vs outdoor
mounting matter too. This tool turns those into an itemized estimate instead of a single
mystery number.
How the estimate works
We combine indicative US market ranges with your inputs and sum each line into a
low–high total. Hardware uses a $200–$700 range (or your price), the
240V circuit is priced over the routing distance, labor and permit use indicative bands,
and a panel upgrade is added only when you flag it. Every figure is indicative — it is a
planning range, not a quote, and not electrical-construction advice.
